When you play Texas hold em online cash games, you have a full variety of choices regarding what kind of structure to play. You can play fixed-limit texas hold em, pot-limit Texas hold em, or the very popular no-limit Texas hold em.

Which you should choose is dependent upon the type of player you are, or maybe even what type of person.

Limit Texas Hold em Online

Limit Texas hold em is a good game for the mathematically inclined. Very often, your decisions will be completely guided by the math. If you are getting the right odds to draw at your hand, you call, if not, you fold. Limit poker strategy tends to be a bit more mechanical than strategy for big-bet poker.

If you have a made hand, you bet until you are convinced somebody is or has become stronger. The downside is that you will get drawn out a lot in limit games, since players are very often getting the right odds to try to make their draw.

This is especially frequent at the low limit games where many players think nothing of tossing in a bet or two to see a flop and a turn.

Of course, you'll be doing your fair share of drawing out as well, but mostly at the right odds!

Who Should Play Limit Texas Hold em Online?

If you're looking for a game with lower variance, where your entire stack is not at risk at every hand, you may prefer limit hold em to the big-bet variations pot-limit and no-limit, where your stack is always at jeopardy.

Fixed Limit is also good for online play since the value of tells is greatly reduced in a game with restricted pot sizes, and physical tells are absent from the online game.

On the other hand, if you are a player who hates to get drawn out on and loves to play for big pots and the thrill of making big moves, limit hold em may not be for you.

No matter what game you choose, remember that the risk involved in fixed-limit poker is not necessarily smaller than in no-limit games; it depends on the stakes.

For example, a fixed limit game with blinds at $100/200 will certainly pose a greater threat to your bankroll than a no-limit game with blinds at $1/2.
