Hold'em Poker: The Position on the Table Matters 31-10-2011

When a player is sitting at a poker table and want to start playing, must always consider the position which it is because this position can be a decisive factor between winning and losing.

We must remember that this aspect is one of the most important in a game of poker and can greatly affect the decisions that the player take based on the movements of other players before him. Also, remember that every move you make can affect the reactions of other players so depending on your location, you can take advantage for your next move. Consider the position in the table is essential.

For those who still do not have well defined the role of each position at the poker table, we will give you some tips.

For example, if your position is at the left of the dealer, you are in the position known as the "small blind" however, if you are located at the next seat to the left, in other words if you are sitting 2 positions left from the dealer you are in the "the big blind".

At the third position from the dealer, the player in this spot is called "under the gun".

In the last position recounting always from the dealer we find that the player on the right side of this it is called "cut off". The other positions at the table, do not have an specific name but the chance to analyze and play with an strategy or another will depends in a big manner to the position in which you are on the table in Hold'em. Your position will give you the opportunity to play a specifically roll, and will define your turn of invest money in the game. Remember that the dealer is sitting in the principal position (the button) but this is a spot which rotates between the players, and depending on it, you will have some chances to move, or will apply some strategies special for your location on the table.

If you are not an experienced player you should know that the initial positions mentioned above (small blind, big blind and under the gun ) are locations in where it is more difficult to play. Usually the players in these positions have no enough information about the number of players participating nor have idea of the strength that their hands could have in the beginning.

When you are in these positions it is advisable to do a quick analysis of the other players, and if it's necessary to fold.

In other positions of the table (middle positions) the game becomes a little more flexible, so the stress level is a little less. Players who play in these positions have the advantage that they can plan and implement better strategies, and that having a little more information of other players have more confidence to play. However, even if you are playing at this advantageous position it is always necessary to be prudent.

The late position on the table is the best. Its a privileged position where the options to play and win are many.
